The writer Wolfi Hübschke is one of the total failures in Juli Zeh’s novel “Unterleuten”. He shops, picks up his daughter from kindergarten and suffers from writer’s block while working from home. And generally alive, which is why he rattles around every day on a lawn tractor in his garden in the nothingness of Brandenburg. With slumped Sisyphus shoulders and such a merciful character that only Bjarne Mädel can portray in the film adaptation of the novel.
