Garching – sign against hatred – district of Munich

Next Sunday, March 5th, the citizens of Garching are called upon to join a peace march. Under the title “Steps for Peace”, people want to show solidarity with refugees from all parts of the world and take a stand against hate, exclusion and persecution. The event starts at 2 p.m. at the Garchinger Rathausplatz, after a few welcoming speeches the train will set off towards the Bürgerpark. The initiator of the peace march is the green city councilor Daniela Rieth. The campaign is supported by the Catholic and Protestant parishes, the city of Garching, the “Education for Big and Small” association, the Non-Violent Childhood Foundation and the Garching Integration Advisory Board, among others.

City councilors initiated a first “peace walk” a year ago, prompted by Russia’s violent invasion of Ukraine and the desire to express solidarity with Ukraine from Garching. People from 100 nations live in the university town of Garching with around 18,000 inhabitants.
