Garching – delicacies in the business campus – district of Munich

The promising glitter on the water surface of the lake indicates a wonderful day. Maybe add a cappuccino, a croissant, and the pleasure is almost perfect. The Café am See of Konditorei Riedmair is somewhat hidden in the ultra-modern business campus in Garching Hochbrück, and is mostly only frequented by the people who have their offices here. But the detour there is worth it, especially when the weather is nice. Riedmair is a Garching baker that now operates 16 branches, five in the university town alone.

He now employs around 250 people, most of them in sales. On the homepage, the reader learns that the company attaches great importance to craftsmanship and regionality. For example, the organic eggs come from a poultry farm in Lower Bavaria, the flour is supplied by the Dachau Würm mill, the honey comes from a beekeeper with beehives in Schleißheim and Feldmoching and the sausage products come from the butcher and slaughterhouse of Ludwig Riedmair’s father-in-law from the Spessart. The breakfast menu offers something for everyone, including breakfast for two. Scrambled eggs are served with bacon, delicious homemade Bircher muesli refined with raspberries, jam, a quark spread with herbs and freshly squeezed orange juice is a must, as are the “freshlings” in the bread basket, as the normal wheat rolls are called here come along in the form of a long bun.

However, some find it difficult to get past the cake counter, where heavenly delights are gathered, from pancakes to poppy seed tarts. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m., after which lunchtime business takes place. A different soup is offered every day, and lovers of tomato soup should choose Friday as the date.

The breakfast can be enjoyed quite contemplatively, only occasionally guests come by who want to get a sandwich or take a short break and have a quick cup of coffee in between. If you like, you can take a look at the available Southgerman newspaper or the AZ throw. There is also reading material for children. The café has a pretty good selection of picture books. For the little ones, there are the popular farm books, while older children can embark on an adventure with a little witch.

The café can be reached either by car, parking spaces are right in front of it, or by underground (U6), Hochbrück stop. You can be there in about five minutes. If you prefer to cycle, there is a beautiful path from Munich past the Allianz Arena through the heath to Hochbrück. Riedmair Café am See, Parkring 4 in Garching-Hochbrück, open from Monday to Friday during the holidays only from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., otherwise from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Friday until 4 p.m.
