An online dispute between three Twitch streamers that has been smoldering for some time became quite tangible at Gamescom in Cologne. Afterwards, the beef shifted back to the net – with mixed insights.

The scene, which is currently being shared and discussed en masse in numerous videos on the Internet, inevitably raises a question: are we really looking at the largest games fair in the world or at the parking lot of a large disco in some provincial backwater?

The following can be seen and heard: A group of young people has gathered in a square on the outside of Gamescom. After two pandemic-related digital editions, it will take place again this year on site in Cologne. The focus is on the two industry stars Tanzverbot (real name: Kilian Heinrich) and Orangemorange (Kevin Bongers), known to hundreds of thousands of people through their Twitch and YouTube presence.

In the video, Tanzban mobs in the direction of his adversary and tries to get to him. Others try to tell the two apart. Orangemorange throws a cup in the direction of no dancing, whereupon it gets completely beside itself and can only be held back with difficulty by other participants. It is only when he accidentally throws a woman to the ground at the end of the clip who tries to calm him down that he seems to grasp the extent of his actions and seems horrified at himself. The video can be seen here.

The background to the Gamescom tussle is an online dispute

The trigger of the heated scene remained unclear. The background seems to be an online dispute that has been smoldering between the two for some time and in which streamer Scurrows (Theo Bottländer) is also involved as a third party. At its core, Tanzverbot publicly accuses the other two of allowing themselves to be sponsored by online casinos and filming themselves gambling online. This could drive minors into gambling addiction, is the (probably not entirely unjustified) accusation.

The Gamescom incident then went back online, where blame was hotly debated. Orangemorange posted another statement on Twitterin which he announced that he would seek talks with Tanzban.

Twitch colleague Marcel Eris aka MontanaBlack or Monte for short made the smartest contribution to the discussion. Eris had a similar conflict with Ban on Dance in the past, but the two settled the dispute. Regarding the incident at Gamescom, Monte wrote briefly and aptly on Twitter: “Violence is pretty uncool“.
