Games in Germany: Time for the next level for the industry – business

The Germans like to play. At least electronically. 60 percent of people in this country play on their cell phones, PCs or consoles, men and women, old and young. Last year, German citizens spent a total of 9.97 billion euros on new computer and video games, hardware and online services. That’s six percent more than in 2022 and more than for films and music combined. When it comes to sales in the games industry, Germany ranks first in Europe and fifth worldwide. So people in this country are at the top when it comes to consuming – but not when it comes to developing and producing video games.
