Only two prospective buyers are still in the running for the insolvent department store chain Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof (GKK). However, the price for continuation is high and it is primarily the company’s employees who will pay it. Up to a third of the 92 branches will be closed; Thousands of employees will probably lose their jobs as a result. According to the provisional insolvency administrator Stefan Denkhaus, a final decision will be made in April. Only then will it be clear in detail how many houses and jobs will be lost.
