Queen Mary turned heads at a gala dinner in Oslo on her 20th wedding anniversary with King Frederik.
Queen Mary (52) and King Frederik X (55) of Denmark spent their 20th wedding anniversary on May 14th in Norway. The royal couple traveled on the royal yacht Dannebrog for a state visit and were honored, among other things, with a gala dinner in the evening. The Norwegian royals, King Harald (87) and Queen Sonja (86) as well as the crown prince couple Haakon (50) and Mette-Marit (50), welcomed the two at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
They are “not just neighbors and colleagues, but family and friends,” explained Frederik in his speech at the state banquet. “Our countries have common values, a common culture and history, and the Danish-Norwegian bonds are very strong. Mary and I will do everything in our power to preserve everything that binds us together now and in the future.”
According to “Hello! Magazine” King Harald addressed Mary in his own speech on the occasion of the wedding anniversary: ”Dear Mary, you embarked on a great task when you fell in love with this sporty Dane. You gave up a lot of things that were safe and familiar. You have Made Denmark and the Danes your own heartland and your own home. I know that you were also a great support for our beloved Queen Margrethe. We think it is very nice that you have decided to celebrate your wedding day here with us to celebrate!”

Special tiara for special occasion
She wore the light blue gown with chiffon sleeves once in 2015. She combined it with matching satin pumps and a silver clutch. The Queen’s choice of jewelry was particularly striking, consisting of a pearl poire tiara, matching earrings and several brooches. The tiara was often worn by Margrethe II (84) during her reign and is reserved for queens. Mary also wore a pin with a miniature portrait of her husband made especially for her. Traditionally, the women of the Danish royal family carry the portrait of the respective monarch.
During the state visit, the two kings Frederik and Harald will meet for the first time since the Danish monarch ascended the throne following the abdication of his mother Margrethe II on January 14th.
