You open it, read a few lines, shudder, turn the pages, dutifully fight your way through a few pages until you feel the first hints of aggression and know: There’s no point in delving further into this text. And then there are books that failed in interesting ways. Gabriele von Arnim’s book “The Consolation of Beauty”, which became a small bestseller this fall, is one such book.
