There are books that you read because they come from a revered author or a great writer. No, by no means everything that Salman Rushdie, Nadine Gordimer or Peter Handke have written is as good as some of their other works, which may have made them admired, or at least read regularly and sometimes with pleasure. But if there was “new” news from Martin Walser or if you discovered Svetlana Alexandrovna Alexiewitsch, Nobel Prize winner in 2015, then you read.
