Gabriel Attal calls on the French to “choose” him as Prime Minister in the first round

“On January 9, the President of the Republic appointed me. On June 30, I would like the French to choose me,” said Gabriel Attal during a press conference on Thursday. The Prime Minister, who is leading the legislative campaign for the presidential camp, called on the French to “choose” him in the first round of the elections, while he was questioned about the necessity or not of campaigning with Emmanuel Macron given the animosity that the president arouses among voters.

“This is the first time in more than twenty-five years that the French will choose a Prime Minister. Obviously there will be a before and an after. And that at the end of this election, necessarily, there will be a before and an after in the practice of power, in the balance of institutions,” he replied.

” The day after “

After an appearance on TF1 on Wednesday evening, Gabriel Attal held a press conference at 9 a.m. this Thursday, entitled “the day after”. For almost an hour, the Prime Minister imagined what “the day after” would be like in the event of victory for the National Rally or the New Popular Front – which he describes as “Nupes lined up behind La France insoumise”. He thus defended the record of the presidential majority and presented his party as being “the only one” capable of governing.

“Do not scatter your votes in the first round,” he said, recalling that the majority presented itself under the banner “Together for the Republic” and that it was “the useful vote from the first round to counter the extremes”. He defended a “very clear” choice: “You have on one side Jordan Bardella with the National Rally alliance and others, on the other Jean-Luc Mélenchon with the France Insoumise alliance and others. And then there are the “Together for the Republic” candidates, behind me.”
