Future of mobility: 40 years of waiting for the tram in Gundelfingen – economy

It rarely happens that everyone always agrees. This is also the case with the mobility turnaround. The consequences of endless discussions are currently being observed in Gundelfingen, for example. The municipality with around 12,000 inhabitants is located north of Freiburg. If you want to take public transport from the center of Freiburg to Gundelfingen, you first need to take the tram for around 20 minutes and then change to a bus – another ten minutes’ travel time. It could be much easier, that’s what people thought back in the 1980s, and at the time there were plans to extend the tram line by two kilometers to the center of the community. The route along which the tram is to travel has been kept free over the years. But so far not a single track has been laid.
