Fürstenfeldbruck: Donation scammers on the road at Christmas markets – Fürstenfeldbruck

In the past few days, scammers have brazenly exploited the willingness of Christmas market visitors in the Fürstenfeldbruck area to donate, according to the police. In front of a current issue of a street newspaper published by a Munich association, the women pretended to collect donations for a soup kitchen. In order to make the scam appear even more credible, a kind of donation list was also kept on which the bona fide sponsors could register.

The women are not selling the street newspaper mentioned and are therefore not collecting for a charitable purpose, warns the police headquarters in Oberbayern-Nord. The soup kitchen mentioned does not exist either. All in all, the fraudsters have been known to have appeared in four cases at the Christmas markets in Fürstenfeldbruck, Eichenau and Olching. A meaningful personal description of the perpetrators has not yet been found.

In this context, the police recommend a healthy distrust of alleged fundraisers. People who support a charitable project by selling newspapers, for example, will always be able to identify themselves with a sales ID. Anyone who makes suspicious observations should not hesitate to speak to police officers and members of the local security services. You can also call the emergency number 110.
