Funny style challenge: the designer dresses like a different household product every day

Style challenge
Every day the designer dresses like a product that she finds in the household

Irish designer Taryn de Vere has come up with a very special style challenge for January. It disguises itself as toothpaste, milk carton or toilet cleaner. The results are wonderfully flashy.

Taryn de Vere’s project is just right for anyone who can use a bit of color and humor in their gray January. The Irish designer has been publishing a picture on social media every day since the New Year, showing her in an outfit that is modeled on a banal household product.

The results are colorful, funny and simply great: sometimes de Vere imitates a tin can of beans, sometimes a tube of toothpaste or a bag of milk. The highlights also include her fashion interpretation of the yellow toilet cleaner, the pink stain remover and the purple sanitary napkin pack.

Inspiration in the kitchen cupboard

The woman from the Irish town of Donegal came up with the idea for the style challenge because she spent so much time at home with her children over the Christmas period due to the high corona numbers. She realized that inspiration can be all around us, including in the refrigerator or in the kitchen cupboard, she told him “Irish Mirror”.

In addition, the funny idea also has a sustainable approach. “My only rule for this challenge was that I couldn’t buy anything new,” reports de Vere. “I thought this would be a great way to use the clothes I already own in different and more creative ways.” The outfits that have been published so far are all wonderfully flashy, but de Vere herself finds her depiction of toothpaste the craziest. Because in normal life she would never wear so much white, says de Vere.

De Vere introduces herself on her website as a single mother of five and “‘probably the most colorful person in Ireland”. Her wish is “to make the world more colorful and to provide her children with vegetables and books”. Every purchase of their products contributes to this goal. You can find earrings, kitchen magnets or funny headgear in their online shop.
