Funding program for quality journalism: In spite of all distance – media

How is quality journalism in Germany? Compared to many other countries in the world: quite good. Reporters Without Borders places Germany in 21st place in their global ranking of press freedom. But if you look at the fact that attacks on media professionals are increasing and that masses of jobs are being cut at magazines and private broadcasters on the other hand, that regional newspapers in particular with the immensely high delivery and Paper costs are struggling and even in the well-financed public broadcasters it is questionable whether a few savings targets will not curtail valuable reporting – then one can also say: Journalism could be in a better position. It could be better equipped, more present in many regions away from the metropolises, more diverse and therefore more attractive as a professional field.
