FTI gets a new boss – economy

Europe’s third largest travel company FTI will have a new managing director from July. As announced yesterday, the previous managing director Ralph Schiller is changing to the supervisory board. His successor will be Karl Markgraf, who has been with the company as Chief Information Officer (CIO) since 2022 and will in future work for the travel company in a dual role as Managing Director and CIO. Changes are also pending on the Supervisory Board. Naguib Sawiris will head up the body as the main shareholder, Ralph Schiller will become Deputy Chairman.

The Munich-based company announced that it intends to push digitalization with the new managing director Markgraf. “With his extensive experience in the areas of IT and digitization, Karl Markgraf is the ideal person to lead our company into the future and to ensure that the change initiatives that have already been launched take effect,” said Sawiris.

However, the reasons could go further. Like research of Business Insider disclosed earlier this year, Schiller apparently has a criminal record for fraud. In addition, this spring it was at times rumored that DER Touristik, which belongs to the Rewe Group, could take over FTI. In addition, FTI is currently embroiled in an industry-internal affair over the disclosure of customer data. This should also be one of the reasons why Wolfgang Altmüller, member of the board of the Rosenheimer Volksbank Raiffeisenbank, will leave the FTI supervisory board.
