From Splash! to Wacken: The festivals in summer 2024

Do you want a festival without a wild mix of styles? For fans of certain music genres, summer 2024 has these events in store.

There is great anticipation for the 2024 festival summer. While the large all-round festivals attract with their variety of genres, scene-goers will also find something to suit them again this year. Metal, electronic, hip-hop or reggae fans can look forward to these events.

Full Force: 21 to 23 June

From hardcore to metalcore, from black metal to death metal, from pop punk to crossover: fans of these genres will get their money’s worth at Full Force. Ferropolis, the “city of iron” near Gräfenhainichen in Saxony-Anhalt, has hosted the festival since 2017. The following bands will be on stage, among others:

Architects, Dropkick Murphys, Five Finger Death Punch, Bad Religion, Alligatoah, Ice Nine Kills, Simple Plan

Splash! Festival: 3 to 6 July

“What began in a Chemnitz youth club in 1998 has made rap history”: The Splash! Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023. The Chemnitz hip-hop duo Tefla & Jaleel founded the festival, which takes place this year from July 3 to 6. This time, the hip-hop and rap acts in Ferropolis include:

Chief Keef, Playboi Carti, Shirin David, Offset, Juju, 21 Savage, Rin, Pashanim, 01099

Ruhrpott Rodeo: 5 to 7 July

The Ruhrpott Rodeo, which is considered the largest punk festival in Germany, will take place again in 2024. This year, the open-air area at the Schwarze Heide airfield in Hünxe near Bottrop will host the following bands and artists, among others:

Bad Religion, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, Sum 41, Pussy Riot, Suicidal Tendencies, Dritte Wahl

Summerjam Festival: 5 to 7 July

At the beginning of July, things will be colorful and wild again: The Summerjam Festival invites its festival visitors to the Fühlinger See in the north of Cologne. Reggae, dancehall and hip hop fans can look forward to the following acts, among others:

Beenie Man, Burna Boy, Busy Signal, Culcha Candela, Megaloh, Sido, Marsimoto

Parookaville: 19 to 21 July

With around 75,000 visitors a day, Parookaville is Germany’s largest electronic music festival and will take place from July 19 to 21, 2024 at Weeze Airport (NRW). More than 300 DJs from all electronic genres await visitors, as well as more space for the main stage and new “districts” this year. On stage will be:

Burg Herzberg Festival: 25 to 28 July

This event will make the hearts of all hippies beat faster. The music and literature festival in Breitenbach am Herzberg offers pop and rock music. The following musicians will be performing:

Wolfmother, Xavier Rudd, Bonaparte, Calexico, Israel Nash, Moop Mama x Älice, Orange

Wacken Open Air: 31 July to 3 August

One of the biggest metal festivals in the world is taking place at the end of July: The W:O:A invites you to headbang in Schleswig-Holstein for the 33rd time in 2024. The Wacken Open Air will take place from July 31 to August 3, 2024. All tickets for this year’s festival were sold out after just 4.5 hours. Lucky ticket holders can look forward to these acts:

Architects, Scorpions, Korn, In Extremo, Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, Gene Simmons, Whitechapel

Nature One: 1 to 4 August

Nature One is one of the largest European electronic music festivals. In 2024, it will traditionally take place from August 1 to 4 at the former Pydna rocket base in the Hunsrück. Around 65,000 visitors can look forward to 350 DJs and 22 floors. There will be performances by, among others:

Aka Aka, Alle Farben, Bennett, Dominik Eulberg, Lilly Palmer, Moonbootica, Super Flu, Westbam

Haldern Pop: 8 to 10 August

Fans of rock and pop bands, indie music and singer-songwriters should keep an eye on the Haldern Pop Festival. The 41st edition, taking place in Rees-Haldern on the Dutch border from August 8 to 10, 2024, will feature the following artists:

Lola Young, Billie Marten, Blanco White, Faber, Sharktank, Chilly Gonzales

SunMoonStars: 9 to 11 August

Anyone who likes to swing their hips to electronic music will also get their money’s worth at SonneMondSterne, with around 40,000 expected visitors. Big names from the scene are expected to be near Saalburg-Ebersdorf in Thuringia from August 9th to 11th, including:

Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, Charlotte de Witte, Dirty Doering, Dominik Eulberg, Niconé

Summer Breeze: 14 to 17 August

In mid-August, metal and rock lovers will meet near Dinkelsbühl for Summer Breeze with more than 120 acts. Fans of the scene can look forward to:
