There were and are quite a few people who moved the world. It is usually important politicians, inventors, philosophers or discoverers who have made a name for themselves as revolutionaries that come to mind when you think of pioneers, most of whom were or are men. It is the image of the social life of the last centuries, which is still having a lasting impact on us in the 21st century. But in addition to the numerous, really admirable male personalities, more and more women have been able to achieve unusual things in recent years.
It-Girls: More than just pretty to look at
Just think of Marie Curie, the founder of radiochemistry or chemist Rosalind Franklin, who discovered the structure of DNA. But you don’t have to be a physicist or a chemist to achieve a lot with your existence. This is proven by the numerous it girls of the last century, who shaped fashion, the image of women and society itself with their existence and appearance. Without these women we wouldn’t be where we are today – even if they often have the reputation of being untalented, pretty dolls.
Incidentally, the term “It-Girl” in its original usage means: “Girl with that certain something” and was first used in the 1920s in connection with silent film star Clara Bow. It is only today that the predominantly negative connotation that associates “it girls” with the prejudice of “being famous for being unable to do anything” dominates.
