Investigators from the anti-narcotics office of Toulouse, supported by the BRI, waited for night to surprise the members of a network of drug traffickers, installed in the Aude. Five people were arrested on Sunday, around 2 a.m., at their homes where the police seized 146 kg of cannabis, 1 kg of cocaine, a semi-automatic, 20,000 euros in cash as well as watches, clothes and luxury leather goods for more than 20,000 euros.
For several months, the police had been closely following those who were at the head of a network specializing “in the import of large quantities of narcotics from Spain and their transport to Toulouse in order to supply the places of illegal sale in the neighborhoods “, indicates, in a press release, the public prosecutor of Toulouse, Samuel Vuelta-Simon.
In November 2020, the investigation was launched on his instruction, leading to the opening of a judicial investigation two months later. “The caution of the traffickers did not, however, allow the traffic to be interrupted, until the last trip which triggered the wave of arrests”, continues the chief prosecutor.
Of the five people arrested, four, aged 35 to 51, were charged and remanded in custody. The investigation is continuing in order to identify accomplices in this very lucrative traffic.
