Fritzsmart Gateway: FritzOS update brings more compatible Zigbee devices

A FritzOS update to version 7.57 is available for the Fritzsmart Gateway. AVM names four points in terms of functionality: support for additional Zigbee devices in the smart home, security and stability fixes, device groups should no longer disappear and the incorrect “automatic switching” with a countdown from 6 minutes should have been fixed.

The Compatibility list now includes a total of 104 instead of 84 devices, which can control the Fritzsmart Gateway. Primarily, new lights and lamps have been added, including Philips’ outdoor range for outdoor lighting.

The Trådfri is new from Ikea in the 470 lumen version. The Fritzsmart Gateway can also handle the first lights from Livarno. In the case of Ubisys, the LD6 ballast is included.

Aside from lighting, the gateway with FritzOS 7.57 learns how to use two additional Silvercrest adapter plugs and the Aeotec button as a single button. Nexentro and Ubisys each have a new flush-mounted module that allows you to switch on Zigbee lights with classic wall switches.

Users can update the FritzOS of the Fritzsmart Gateway both via a Fritzbox and via the gateway’s browser interface. In the case of a Fritzbox, go to “Home network” in the browser interface and then to “Mesh”. The “Run update” field should appear next to the gateway.

In the Gateway’s own browser interface you have to navigate to “System” > “Update” > “FritzOS version” and finally click on “Search for new FritzOS”. After a successful search, the update can be started.
