FritzBox devices can undoubtedly do a lot. The following so-called FritzApps still enable other possible uses. This means that smartphones and tablets can be used differently. But your television experience can also be improved thanks to the combination of WiFi router and mobile app.
#1 FritzApp Fon: Use your mobile phone over the landline
With the FritzApp Fon you can turn your cell phone or even your tablet into a landline phone. You can easily use the landline network for telephony via the app via the WLAN connection between the mobile device and the FritzBox. You also have access to the stored contacts and caller lists.
Notice: The prerequisite for using the iOS version is at least FritzOS 7.20. The Android version of the app requires FritzOS 7.29 or newer.
#2 FritzApp TV: Optimize your TV experience
Do you have a FritzBox Cable for your cable connection? Then the FritzApp TV is suitable for you. It lists all unencrypted channels at a glance. The FritzBox app gives you the latest information about the current programs. And best of all: You can have your cable TV program transmitted to your cell phone and tablet and watch it on the go.
Notice: The FritzApp TV works with all Fritz products that support DVB-C streaming.
#3 FritzApp WLAN: Improve your Internet
The FritzBox app FritzApp WLAN has several advantages. You can use it to hide yourself and your location from Google, for example. On the other hand, the application can improve your WiFi connection. For example, it helps you to find the best location for your router.
If you have paired the FritzBox and the app via your mobile phone, it will show you all the WiFi configurations, such as the repeaters you are using. To do this, you can determine your actual internet speed at various locations within your home.
Conclusion: FritzBox and apps promise more fun
Surprisingly, you can still get a lot out of your FritzBox with a mobile app. Apparently, the router can do much more than just provide WLAN. In the areas of fixed network, WLAN and TV, the applications offer interesting extensions to the everyday use of a FritzBox. Incidentally, you can find all AVM apps in the Google Play Store and, with the exception of FritzApp WLAN, also in the Apple App Store.
