They were difficult, his last years. Shortly before his 80th birthday, Fritz Wepper was diagnosed with skin cancer. In an Austrian clinic, doctors also removed a tumor from his abdomen, from which he only recovered slowly. Two years earlier, his wife Angela died unexpectedly, later he had to say goodbye to his beloved dog Aron – and then his brother Elmar died of heart failure in October 2023. A stroke of fate for Fritz Wepper, the two were more than just brothers, they were colleagues, competitors – and best friends.
