French Open: Second Grand Slam victory! Singing Polish woman unstoppable – sports mix

She just can’t be stopped right now!

Iga Swiatek (21) won the French Open, swept the American Coco Gauff (18) 6: 1, 6: 3 off the field in Paris in just 68 minutes. It is the second Grand Slam title for the world number one, who won the same place two years ago.

In the audience: Bayern star and Swiatek compatriot Robert Lewandowski (33). Immediately after the match point, she ran to him, both hugged.

Gauff was then a fair loser: “You definitely deserve it, you play great and I hope we’ll see each other in a few more finals,” she said to Gauff. Swiatek’s answer: “We definitely will.”

The match is quickly told. Gauff missed the start completely and when she caught herself a bit, it was already too late. She was overly nervous in her first major final, you could feel it every second. Swiatek exploited this mercilessly.

She sang easily through the first movement. Means: There is always a song running in her head, currently Dua Lipa translates as “guilt feelings”. Music is her great passion. When entering the square she hears Led Zeppelin, AC/DC or Guns n’Roses.

At the award ceremony, the bass also boomed, albeit from heaven. A thunderstorm came up, the roof was closed in no time at all and Poland’s anthem sang. Then Swiatek’s voice almost cracked during the acceptance speech. “Ukraine, stay strong!” she called out to the world. There was thunderous applause from the 15,000 spectators.

The final was the 35th game in a row without defeat and the sixth tournament win in a row. And it was surprisingly easy for her. In the second set, Swiatek only had problems at the beginning when she lost her service once. After that, she not only got the serve back, but she immediately made a second break.

After 68 minutes then the first match point to 6:3. And the number 1 position is stronger than ever. The loud shouts of Coco from the audience, who would have liked to see a closer finale, didn’t help either.
