French nationals “must” leave Ukraine “without delay”, asks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Foreign Ministry “formally advises against” any travel to northern and eastern Ukraine, against a backdrop of escalating tensions with Russia.

According to travel advice for Ukraineupdated on Wednesday 23 February by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “French nationals must leave this country without delay”which places it de facto in the red zone.

The Quai d’Orsay “advise against traveling to Ukraine until further notice”it is underlined. “Any travel to the border areas in the north and east of the country is formally discouraged”while the threat of a large-scale Russian military operation is not excluded by the Western powers.

On Saturday February 19, the Quai d’Orsay had already updated its travel advice, by “recommending” to all its nationals “to leave Ukraine” and calling on those in the most war-prone areas in the east of the country to move away “without delay”.
