Free trade with India: Sunak wants to create what Johnson only dreamed of – economy

To understand what the Brexiteers are still dreaming of, you first have to go back to Greenwich. Boris Johnson stopped there, in east London, three and a half years ago a speech, in which he wanted to show the world who it is dealing with now: “After decades of hibernation, we are back as fighters for global free trade.” He wanted to conclude all kinds of contracts, especially with the USA and India. But nothing came of it. The situation has only changed since Rishi Sunak took office at 10 Downing Street. The Prime Minister is actually making progress. Sunak is determined to conclude a free trade agreement with India – if possible this year.
