Netflix, Freevee and others: You can now watch films and series for free, but with commercial breaks. Did not we have that before?
Unfortunately, there is a lot that can be done with impunity on the Internet. For example, unblock Ye West, formerly Kanye West, who was blocked on Twitter because of anti-Semitic statements. What Twitter boss Elon Musk can’t do with impunity – and West has had a chance to learn this lesson before – is mess with the advertising industry. At the beginning of November, Musk announced that he would be cutting advertisements on Twitter, after which major advertising partners such as VW ended their collaboration with the social network for the time being. This has serious consequences, because Twitter is mainly financed by advertising revenue. Just like most free entertainment platforms, because there is a lot of money to be made from online advertising: Instagram, YouTube, even Spotify offer music with commercial breaks for free listening. Only the streaming platforms for series and films, Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon, have so far waived. But that’s the end of this year.
