Free State doubles funding for the construction of fire stations – Bavaria

Bavaria is increasing funding for fire brigades in the Free State. The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior will double the fixed amounts for the construction of fire stations from July 1, 2023, Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) announced on Thursday in Munich. In addition, the fixed amounts for the purchase of vehicles and equipment for the fire brigade would be increased by 30 percent.

According to the information, this is made possible by additional revenue from the fire protection tax. According to the tax estimate prepared in May, these should be higher in the future. In view of the strong price increases for vehicles and building construction, Minister Herrmann believes that higher funding is urgently needed. Due to the new regulation, the ministry expects more than 20 million euros to flow to the municipalities. In the years 2020 to 2022, the Free State paid around 145 million euros in fire service funding to the municipalities.
