According to Italian media reports, star coach José Mourinho from AS Roma has resigned from the new football advisory board of the European Football Union UEFA.

The move comes days after the 60-year-old was banned from playing four games in international club competitions by UEFA over a freak out attack on referee Anthony Taylor after the Europa League final. UEFA did not want to comment on the exit when asked, AS Roma was also asked.

Mourinho sent the chairman of the advisory board, Zvonimir Boban, an email with his resignation letter, Italian media reported. “The conditions I believed in so much when I joined are no longer in place and I feel compelled to make that decision,” the Portuguese wrote.

The Advisory Board was approved by the UEFA Executive Committee during its meeting in Lisbon in early April. Former German world champions Philipp Lahm (39), Jürgen Klinsmann (58) and Rudi Völler (63) belong to the expert group of 24 top coaches and former soccer stars.
