Two scammers defrauded a woman in Bamberg of a five-figure sum of money. As the police announced on Wednesday, the 63-year-old was approached by an unknown woman on Tuesday. She lied to the woman from Bamberg that she wanted to free the woman’s family and money from an evil curse.
A second unknown woman is said to have confirmed the “powers” of her accomplice. The 63-year-old woman took her savings from home with one of the strangers and put the cash in an envelope. When they met the other perpetrator again, she wrapped the money in a tea towel, tied it up and spoke an “incantation”.
The 63-year-old then went home with the package. Because she had doubts, she unwrapped the package and found that the money was gone. Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses.
