Let’s get out of here: Many are leaving Russia right now. Westerners and Russians who do not want to live under the increasingly authoritarian regime want to fly out of the country. Ironically, the airport operator Fraport, however, seems to want to stay. The mostly state-owned company owns a quarter of the airport in St. Petersburg – a tricky investment. Because research by WDR and Suddeutscher Zeitung show that Fraport was not just an investor. The Russian war and the sanctions are now increasing the explosive nature of this involvement.
