Frankfurt: Premiere of the opera “Bloom” by Vito Žuraj and Händl Klaus – culture

Operas are most contemporary when they are particularly timeless. This also applies to completely new compositions, as the premiere of “Bloom” at the Frankfurt Opera showed. On the stage of the Bockenheimer Depot, the Slovenian composer Vito Žuraj and the Austrian lyricist Händl Klaus dealt with the topic of love and sexual desire on the basis of the story “The Betrayed” by Thomas Mann. An elderly woman falls in love with a young man – a glamorous opera theme at least since Richard Strauss’ “Rosenkavalier”. Directed by Brigitte Fassbaender. From fascination, rapture, interest to well-groomed boredom, the evening offered all sorts of things, especially music.
