Frankfurt ex-OB Peter Feldmann appeals the verdict | hessenschau.de

Voted out and convicted – Peter Feldmann had to take a lot in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The former mayor is resisting the verdict for accepting an advantage. He sees a “decision based exclusively on ‘hearsay'”.

The voted-out Frankfurt Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) has appealed against the judgment for accepting advantages in the AWO affair. “A decision that is based exclusively on ‘hearsay’ and excludes all defense witnesses I have requested must be reviewed,” said Feldmann in an email to journalists and various editorial offices. He trusts the rule of law and is “not corrupt,” he wrote on New Year’s Day.

The Frankfurt Regional Court confirmed receipt of the appeal on Monday at the request of hr. The next higher instance – the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe – will now examine whether the revision will be allowed or whether it will be rejected. Feldmann’s defense could not be reached for comment.

On December 23, the Frankfurt district court sentenced Feldmann to a fine in two cases for accepting an advantage. He has to pay 21,000 euros and a value replacement and is considered a criminal record if the verdict is upheld. There is no written reason for the judgment yet. Feldmann has to justify his revision within four weeks after the written judgment – then the BGH decides.

The public prosecutor’s office waives an appeal

The fine was less than the prosecutor’s demand. This had previously demanded a fine of 31,500 euros. In her plea she saw it as proven that Feldmann had been guilty of accepting an advantage in two cases. Feldmann’s defense attorneys, on the other hand, had pleaded for acquittal and emphasized that Feldmann had not unduly influenced city politics.

The public prosecutor’s office has not lodged an appeal. The level of punishment is justifiable and therefore there will be no revision, a spokeswoman said when asked by hr.
