Eintracht Frankfurt is the 2022 Europa League winner. In the final in Seville, Eintracht prevailed on penalties against Rangers from Glasgow. This makes the Hessians the first winners of the cup since Schalke won the Uefa Cup in 1997. Rafael Borré pocketed the decisive penalty.
After a hard-fought but poor first half, which had to be interrupted for several minutes because Frankfurt’s Sebastian Rode injured his head, Joe Aribo scored the 1-0 for Rangers in the 57th minute. Djibril Sow had extended a high ball into the opponent’s path, Tuta stumbled in a duel – an unfortunate goal. But unity quickly recovered. Rafael Borré equalized just 12 minutes later – naturally from a Filip Kostic cross. This result went into overtime and penalties.
