Franconia: Mayor donates 5,000 euros for the capture of a “writer” – Bavaria

Anyone who has not yet come regularly Bulletin of the municipality of Theilheim reading is highly recommended. In the March issue, for example, the 2024 communion children are introduced, you learn basic information about the potholes in Oberen Weinbergsweg and the speed limit in the residential area of the Franconian town with 2,400 inhabitants is once again expressly pointed out.

The sound and visual design are kept appealingly subtle, exclamation marks are largely avoided, which is how it has to be in these noisy times. Small exception this time, of course. On the seventh page of the current issue, the right column has been cleared for town hall boss Thomas Herpich. You can already tell from the headline that something must be really bothering him: “Statement of the First Mayor: That’s not how it works!”

It’s all about this. At a service meeting of the volunteer fire department, an applicant made himself available for the vacant position of first commander. However, his prerequisite: a deputy must be found. After extensive debate, one person actually agreed to do so and everything seemed to be in the clear. Until the next morning the candidate looked at his windshield and read the following note – reproduced here in the original version: “You may not be serious that you can become a second commander with your normal troop training……. There is “There are other candidates for it. They are more competent than you. That was a joke on your part.”

The designated 2nd commander didn’t take this lying down, resigned and even resigned from the fire department – so the problem remained unsolved. Which in turn prompted the mayor, drawn up by a local voters’ association, to put his statement in the newsletter as follows: “At the same time, I am offering a reward of 5,000 euros for information that leads to the identification of the writer.”

Since then, the Theilheim local council has met once. And like that Main Post held, one of the councilors there spoke of “parallel justice”. In general, he wanted to know where the money for things like that actually came from. The mayor was on vacation, so the question is open.

Mr. Mayor? Herpich says in the SZ interview that he will pay the money privately if necessary. Although he is only an honorary mayor of the town hall: “But it’s worth it to me.”

By the way, he also has suspicions. From the group of people in question – possibly relatively identical to the volunteer fire brigade – there is someone “who is completely lost”. And there is at least one comparison letter that has suspiciously similar stylistic and orthographic details to the windshield label.

Hopefully there will be more in the newsletter of the municipality of Theilheim soon.
