François Ruffin calls for “a charter” on the fate of perpetrators of violence

The Adrien Quatennens affair continues to divide among the Insoumis. The day after the speech in the hemicycle of the deputy temporarily excluded from the group after a conviction for having slapped his wife, his colleague François Ruffin proposed the formatting of a “national charter” common to political parties, trade unions and businesses. This would aim to establish “how we proceed” in the event of sexual and gender-based violence within it, whether justice has been passed or not.

“I see the point of tension”, explained the deputy of the Somme on FranceInfo, “it is not the right time” because “it is likely to divide at a time when we all need to be united against the government’s pension reform, currently under consideration in the National Assembly. “I am in favor of having a national charter on this issue” because sexual and gender-based violence “is not a phenomenon of parties, it is true in all unions, it is true in all the media and so on. is true in all companies, it is true everywhere”.

Sitting briefly suspended

Assuring that he himself would not have applauded the intervention Tuesday evening of Adrien Quatennens, as some deputies of his group did, he criticized the attitude of the Renaissance group which castigated it. “It’s a shame,” said its leader Aurore Bergé, while after a brief uproar, the session was suspended. “When we have Damien Abad on his benches, I think it must remain a question that we must take with modesty,” said François Ruffin, about the ephemeral minister accused of rape.

Since his sentencing in December to a suspended four-month prison sentence, Adrien Quatennens has been suspended for four months from the LFI group. After a long absence, he returned in January to sit in the Assembly in January, as a non-attached.
