Compared to the population, Switzerland also records fewer deaths than France, but has about the same number of patients hospitalized in intensive care because of Covid-19. The vaccination rate in Switzerland is lower than in France.
However, the two countries have just converted to the health pass to fight Covid-19: the Swiss federal government just announced that a “Covid certificate” would now be required to enter restaurants, cultural and law venues and indoor events. This cousin of the health pass has been in effect since Monday and is limited to January 24 of next year.
In Germany, the “3G rule” is in force since August 23. Nothing to do here with a network for smartphones, it is, again, a version of the health pass. Beyond the threshold of 35 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, only people vaccinated or having a recent test (less than 24 hours for an antigen, 48 hours for a PCR test) have the right to access certain places, such as restaurants , gyms, but also to visit a loved one in a hospital.
The Länder have the power to revoke these restrictions when the seven-day incidence rate remains below this threshold of 35 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Our neighbors also require the presentation of a health pass for all travelers over the age of twelve entering the country, with the exception of border workers.
