In early 2020, Fran Drescher announced that a musical based on the series “The Nanny” was in the works. Now she has given an update.
“The Nanny” star Fran Drescher (64) is currently working on a Broadway musical based on the series from the nineties. The “People” magazine the actress gave an update on the current status of development at the launch of her book “N is for Nanny”.

Accordingly, the musical would progress “at a very good speed”. The first official table read is scheduled to take place at the end of July. However, fans still have to be patient until they can see the musical on Broadway: “I can’t imagine that it will premiere in the next two years, but it’s very exciting.”
The CBS series “The Nanny” ran from 1993 to 1999 in the USA and Europe. In addition to starring, Drescher served as a writer and producer for the sitcom. Like the original, the stage musical is about a girl from the New York borough of Queens who becomes a nanny for a Broadway producer’s three children. Drescher is co-producing the play with her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson.
