Fox hunting ends after 250 years of tradition

It is a decision applauded by anti-hunting groups. Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire Foxhounds, one of Scotland’s oldest clubs, have announced they are ending the more than 250-year-old tradition of fox hunting, the report said. BBC SATURDAY.

After meeting one last time, the hunters explained their decision by saying that increasing urbanization and the lack of accessible rural land had made the breeding of hunting dogs “unviable”.

Unsustainable new restrictions

New restrictions imposed by the Scottish government on hunting have also caused the club to cease their activity, explains the Daily Record. “It is clear that the restrictions in force were not respected, the restrictions in place were not feasible and, therefore, the hunters threw in the towel”, justified a spokesperson quoted by the BBC.

The Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire Foxhounds’ decision comes weeks after another group, Fife Foxhounds, disbanded.
