Fourth complaint against cellist Jérôme Pernoo for sexual assault on a minor

Jérôme Pernoo is the subject of a new complaint. The cellist will have to answer at the end of May before the criminal court for these accusations of sexual harassment and sexual assault on a minor over the age of 15 by a person in authority, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Monday, confirming information from the Parisian. A renowned musician, born in 1993, accuses his former teacher of the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris (CNSMDP) of having touched him when he was a teenager, according to the newspaper.

Contacted, the lawyer for this fourth plaintiff could not be reached immediately. These charges, which resulted in the custody of Jérôme Pernoo on April 11, are added to another file, grouping the charges of three other complainants. In this other case, he is accused of sexual assault on a minor over the age of 15 and on a minor under the age of 15, by a person in authority. Jérôme Pernoo is also accused of sexual harassment.

Ongoing “inappropriate behavior”

A hearing on all the alleged offenses must be held at the end of May before the Paris Criminal Court, said the prosecution. Solicited, Jérôme Pernoo’s lawyer, Me Chirine Heydari, did not wish to comment. After more than fifteen years as a teacher at the CNSMDP, the cellist was dismissed without notice or compensation in May 2022 following an administrative investigation and disciplinary proceedings.

A decision confirmed in November 2022 by the administrative court. In its judgment, the court also recalled that the professor, who had never been the subject of a report of this type before, had been accused of “inappropriate behavior” during his lessons.
