Fourteen arrests during a heated match, mainly for the use of smoke bombs

If nearly 5,000 Maccabi Haifa supporters were present on Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, well beyond the visitor parking lot of 1,650 expected fans, there was no serious overflow during the evening. We still learned, from a police source, that 14 people were arrested, mostly inside the Parisian stadium during this Champions League match PSG-Maccabi Haifa (7-2).

The majority of these arrests took place for the use of smoke bombs inside the Parc des Princes, specifies the same source. One person was also arrested for pickpocketing Israeli supporters, and another for contempt. Considered at risk (level 3 out of 5), this meeting had prompted the Paris police headquarters to mobilize 800 members of the police.

At the end of the afternoon on Tuesday, several hundred Israeli supporters had gathered without overflowing on the avenue des Champs-Elysées, and the atmosphere had risen to a crescendo until kick-off. Note that despite a message to this effect from PSG on Tuesday, several Palestinian flags were deployed in the Auteuil bend, as well as a banner “Gaza exists, Gaza resists, free Palestine” released by the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP). But there too without it being followed by major overflows.
