FC Nantes was attacked in the commercial court by Cardiff City on Monday May 15, which is claiming financial compensation following the accidental death of Emiliano Sala on January 21, 2019. The Welsh club’s request amounts to “more than 100 million euros”, AFP learned from the lawyers of the Canaries, Jérôme Marsaudon and Louis-Marie Absil.

“Nothing is seriouslaunched the lawyers. Cardiff estimated his so-called damage at 17 million euros and was totally dismissed. Now, before the Nantes Commercial Court, Cardiff considers that this same damage would be worth more than 100 million euros! the lawyers wonder. The case will be heard on June 22, they said.

“We are very confident about the analysis that the Nantes Commercial Court will make of these extravagant claims. The FCN will not fail to seek compensation for the damages that these abusive procedures have caused it for more than four years”, add the lawyers, denouncing “a further demonstration of Cardiff’s incomprehensible relentlessness”. While joining his new club, Cardiff City, after four years at FC Nantes, the 28-year-old player died in a plane crash over the English Channel.
