Following the example of Vaucluse and Pyrénées-Orientales, the departments of Haute-Garonne, Rhône, Var and Haute-Savoie will introduce from Monday the health pass in shopping centers of more than 20,000 m2. A measure authorized since Wednesday with the law allowing the extension of the health pass to these places for departments with an incidence rate greater than 200 per 100,000 inhabitants. Loire-Atlantique, which had established it on Monday, has also reversed its decision, seeing its incidence rate increase to 149 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The measure could potentially be applicable to 129 shopping centers distributed in 38 metropolitan and overseas departments with a high incidence rate, according to a calculation taken from the list of centers of more than 20,000 m2 communicated Thursday by the Council. National Shopping Centers (CNCC).
Six supermarkets targeted in the Var
In Haute-Garonne, where the incidence rate on Wednesday was 398, eight shopping centers and one store are concerned. In the Rhône and the Lyon metropolis (rate at 310), ten shopping centers and stores are concerned. The prefecture also makes the mask compulsory indoors – including in places subject to the health pass – as well as in outdoor places “which do not allow physical distancing” (markets, queues, stations, etc.).
In the Var, where the rate fluctuates between 535 and 545, six supermarkets are covered by the decree which also makes the mask mandatory indoors in all establishments open to the public. In Haute-Savoie (rate of 245), six supermarkets will be subject to the sanitary pass and the mask must be worn in establishments open to the public.
The decision to introduce a health pass remains in the hands of the prefects who, according to the law validated last week by the Constitutional Council, cannot make the health pass compulsory if it compromises “people’s access to primary goods and services. necessity as well as means of transport ”.
