Four hundred holidaymakers confined after a major wildfire

Four hundred holidaymakers were confined for several hours on Monday, when a major wildfire broke out in the town of Aigues-Vives, in the Gard. The intervention mobilized a total of 215 firefighters and required the intervention of several aircraft: a Beech (a reconnaissance aircraft), a Dash and four Canadair, which carried out a total of 36 drops. Fifty trucks were also engaged on this site located about thirty kilometers south-west of Nîmes.

The fire was fixed at the beginning of the evening by the firefighters who continued their intervention all night in order to avoid any new start. He will have covered a total of 52 hectares. No homes were affected. The summer visitors to the Odalys holiday residence, who were not present when the fire broke out, were finally able to return to their accommodation.
