Foehn storm in Tyrol
Four Hills Tournament: jumping in Innsbruck canceled at short notice
Disappointment of the athletes at the Four Hills Tournament: The jumping in Innsbruck was postponed and now has to be canceled.
The third ski jumping of the Four Hills Tournament has been canceled due to strong winds at the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck. The jumping, which was originally planned for this Tuesday, should be rescheduled. This was decided by those responsible for the FIS World Federation in the early afternoon after the start had previously been postponed several times.
Innsbruck is known as the venue for the Four Hills Tournament for its susceptibility to wind
The ski jump in Tyrol is known for its susceptibility to wind. Previously, the start, which was actually planned for 1.30 p.m., had been postponed several times to a later time. The trial run also had to be canceled without replacement. Meanwhile, there were no problems in qualifying on Monday.
In the 70-year history of the tour, it is only the second competition that was completely canceled on the planned day. This happened for the first time on January 4th, 2008, when there was also a foehn storm in Innsbruck. At that time, two competitions were held in Bischofshofen on January 5th and 6th. On the facility in Pongau, the organizers can act more flexibly thanks to the existing floodlights and fewer wind problems.
