Four departments of the South-East placed in heat wave orange vigilance for Sunday

The situation will not be alarming, but at least worrying. The heat wave will affect tomorrow Sunday four departments, which have been placed in orange vigilance from the morning, announced Météo-France.

The Rhône, Ain, Isère and Alpes-Maritimes regions are affected by this alert, which will begin at 6 a.m. It will be a “non-exceptional heatwave episode for the season, but the persistence of which requires particular vigilance, especially for sensitive or exposed people”, specifies the weather service.

40°C expected in PACA on Monday

In Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse, the mercury should notably reach 38 ° C, indicates the institute, which has also placed 23 departments on yellow vigilance for a heat wave in the eastern part of the country. In a press release, the Ain prefecture called on the population to protect young children, the elderly, frail, disabled, homeless and exposed workers from the heat.

According to Météo-France, this rise in temperatures should continue on Monday, with maximum increases expected in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, from 37 to 40 ° C.

“A rise in orange level is therefore not excluded for the departments of Var and Bouches-du-Rhône”, adds the weather institute, specifying that if “the end of this episode is of course still uncertain (… ) the risk seems to be lasting in the south-east of the country”.
