After the Landes and the Gers, the propagation of the Delta variant continues in Occitania. On Saturday, the Regional Health Agency indicated that four new cases had been confirmed in Haute-Garonne after the one detected in an employee of Airbus Defense & Space on June 19 in Toulouse.
“The number of these suspected cases in Haute-Garonne is very close today to that of the neighboring department of Gers, previously impacted. It is young people who are affected in the majority of cases. These people were placed in solitary confinement to limit the risk of contamination, ”the ARS said in a press release.

In the neighboring department of Ariège, two suspected cases are also being sequenced to confirm that it is indeed the Delta variant. The people concerned are a member of the staff of the Belissen nursing home in Foix, as well as one of its residents.
Call for vaccination
To avoid any risk of spread, the authorities have decided to put in place an action plan. The establishment for the elderly will therefore be closed until July 17. There will be no more daytime reception, no visits and only urgent consultations will be provided. A screening of all residents and staff will take place this Monday and will be repeated the following Monday. Vaccination will also be offered to staff and the elderly who have not yet had their injections.
In both cases, contact tracing operations continue. With the progression of the variant, the Regional Health Agency calls on the population to be vaccinated.
