He is the discovery of the season at Fortuna Düsseldorf. The competition has already set its sights on striker Tzolis.

Second division top scorer Christos Tzolis has played a major role in the successful season of Fortuna Düsseldorf. With 22 goals this season, the 22-year-old Greek has not only played his way into the hearts of the fans, but also into the notebooks of his competitors. Tzolis could wear the Fortuna jersey for the last time on Monday evening (8.30 p.m./Sat.1. and Sky) in the relegation second leg against VfL Bochum.

As a Bundesliga club, Düsseldorf would have to pay five million euros for the player, who is on loan from Norwich City, if he were to sign him permanently with an option to buy. A sum that the club is unlikely to be able to invest – unless a door opens somewhere, as board member Klaus Allofs noted.

Tzolis himself feels very comfortable in the Fortuna team and especially with coach Daniel Thioune. “I’m enjoying my time here. It’s one of the best seasons of my career. I’m happy here,” said the striker, who already sees his future in Germany. There is also interest from the Bundesliga – for example from Borussia Mönchengladbach. But first he wants to achieve promotion with Fortuna in the decisive game in the sold-out arena. “That would be simply unbelievable,” said the attacker.
