The scandal surrounding the Red Bull team boss continues to smolder. Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is unimpressed on the asphalt.

World Champion Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the opening training for the Formula 1 race in Saudi Arabia. The Red Bull driver set the fastest lap on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in 1:29.659 minutes. After his victory at the first Grand Prix of the year last weekend in Bahrain, Verstappen remained unimpressed by the affair surrounding his team boss Christian Horner.

The Dutchman, who had meanwhile complained about the engine, relegated Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso to second place with a lead of 0.186 seconds. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez came third, 0.209 seconds slower. Nico Hülkenberg didn’t get past 19th and therefore penultimate place in the Haas. He was a whopping 1.752 seconds behind the leader.

An employee had accused Horner of inappropriate behavior. An investigation into the case initiated by the parent company Red Bull then led to the complaint being dismissed. The subsequent emergence of juicy emails gave the matter renewed momentum.
