Felipe Drugovich for Aston Martin in Monza, Robert Shwartzman for Ferrari in Zandvoort – two teams have already fulfilled some of their mandatory drives for Formula 1 youngsters, and now other racing teams are following suit.
As Haas announced before the Qatar Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman will make his Formula 1 debut in Mexico. The 18-year-old will be in the Haas during the first free practice session at both the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez and the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
Formula 1: Bearman drives for Haas
At the Qatar Grand Prix he will look at everything from the outside, and in Mexico at the end of October he will sit in a Formula 1 car for the first time. Bearman completes the first free practice there.
Since this year, Bearman has been driving in Formula 2 for Prema, where he is in a strong sixth place overall with one race to go and achieved four victories in his debut season. He is part of Ferrari’s Driver Academy. As in the past, a Ferrari junior at Haas now has the opportunity to test a Formula 1 car. The teams have been working closely together for years.

“We are very happy to be able to offer Oliver Bearman these missions in Mexico and Abu Dhabi,” says Günther Steiner, team boss of the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team. “He has had an excellent rookie season in Formula 2, four wins are proof of that, and as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy we know his preparation for these weekends will be first class.”
It’s a dream come true for Bearman
Commenting on his Formula 1 debut, Oliver Bearman said: “Getting into Formula 1 has been my dream since I was a go-kart driver, so to be driving a car for the first time this year is really special. I’m grateful to the team and of course Ferrari for giving me this chance. I’m working hard to make sure I can support the team as best as I can on both occasions.”
