Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo is in rehabilitation after breaking his hand. When will the Australian return to his Alpha Tauri cockpit?

After breaking his hand, the Alpha Tauri pilot could Daniel Ricciardo (34) will also miss the next two Formula 1 races in Singapore and Japan. He doesn’t think the Australian will be “ready” until Singapore, said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner in Monza.

“It would be optimistic for Japan but his recovery is going well. The hand has regained mobility and he is in rehabilitation.” Alpha Tauri is Red Bull’s sister team.

Ricciardo broke his left metacarpal bone in a training accident in Zandvoort at the end of August. The 34-year-old was only appointed to Alpha Tauri’s regular driver before the summer break and drove in Hungary and Belgium.

No hasty return

The New Zealander Liam Lawson (21), who comes from the Red Bull youth academy, represented him and will continue to do so for the time being.

“We’ve seen with motorcyclists that they can sometimes do more damage if they come back in a hurry, so we want to make sure he’s fully fit before we put him back in the car,” Horner said of the roadmap with Ricciardo.

The Singapore Grand Prix will be held on September 17, with the race in Japan a week later.
