Formula 1 – Abu Dhabi GP in the live ticker: Is there a bang at the season finale?

The Formula 1 season is coming to an end, the last race of the year is on the program. On Sunday (November 26th) the traffic lights will go out for the last time this year in Formula 1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The world championship has long been decided before the last race in Formula 1. Fans of the premier class of motorsport in Abu Dhabi can still look forward to some hot duels. The duel for fourth place and the still open decisions in the constructors’ championship promise high excitement.

1:50 p.m.: Now it’s getting really emotional again: Franz Tost, AlphaTauri’s long-time team boss, says goodbye. He will retire after the season.

1:23 p.m.: Before the race, the most important questions about the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Who will take second place in the constructors’ championship – Ferrari or Mercedes? Who will win the battle for fourth place? And can AlphaTauri still intercept Williams?

1:11 p.m.: The pit lane is open. The drivers go out onto the starting grid for the last time. It starts in about three quarters of an hour.

11:21 a.m.: The first decision of the day has already been made: Theo Pouchaire clinched the title in Formula 2 in Abu Dhabi.

Sunday, 9:14 a.m.: Have a beautiful good morning. For the last time this year, the engines are roaring in Abu Dhabi today. The race starts at 2 p.m. at the Yas Marina Circuit.

4:09 p.m.: After qualifying, the fight for second place in the constructors’ championship is completely open. Leclerc starts from two, Russell from four. Hamilton is eleventh and Sainz is only 16th.

4:04 p.m.: How could it be otherwise: Max Verstappen also secured pole at the season finale. Charles Leclerc starts from second place, followed by the two McLarens and George Russell. Hülkenberg starts the race from eight.

3:47 p.m.: Once again a strong performance from Nico Hülkenberg. He moves into Q3.

3:45 p.m.: Q2 is over and the next top star has to give up. Lewis Hamilton is eliminated in eleventh place. With him Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll, Alexander Albon and Daniel Ricciardo are leaving.

3:26 p.m.: This is extremely bitter for Ferrari. Ultimately, it’s about second place in the constructors’ championship and for Sainz fourth place in the drivers’ championship.

3:20 p.m.: Huge setback for Ferrari! Carlos Sainz is already out of Q1 and is only sixteenth. Also out are: Kevin Magnussen, Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou and Logan Sargeant.

3:01 p.m.: Let’s go! Qualifying has started.

2:49 p.m.: In around ten minutes we’ll be chasing laps for the last time this year. Who will secure the last pole of the year?

2:12 p.m.: Speaking of Frederik Vesti. The Dane won Formula 2 sprint races in Abu Dhabi and thus maintains his chance of winning the F2 championship.

1:19 p.m.: In Formula 1, almost all driver decisions have been made before the season finale, only Williams is taking its time. Logan Sargeant could still lose his place. Young driver Frederik Vesti is considered a candidate. More about it here!

11:27 a.m.: The focus this weekend is likely to be the duel between Ferrari (388 points) and Mercedes (392 points) in the constructors’ championship. It’s about who is the second force behind Red Bull.

  • 2nd training: Friday, November 24th, from 2 p.m
  • 3rd training: Saturday, November 25th, from 11:30 a.m
  • Qualifying: Saturday, November 25th, from 3 p.m
  • Race: Sunday, November 26th, from 2 p.m

10:49 a.m.: For Franz Tost, the Abu Dhabi GP will be a very emotional affair. The Austrian is quitting as AlphaTauri team boss after 18 years and is retiring (you can read more about Franz Tost’s farewell here!).

9:55 a.m.: On the Friday before the Abu Dhabi GP there was also another really amazing announcement. It comes from Mercedes and McLaren (more here!).

9:23 a.m.: There is also news from Mick Schumacher before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. His future is finally clear (more here!).

8:35 a.m.: Two training sessions took place yesterday, Friday. The big special feature: ten rookies were allowed to try out the first free practice session (more here!). The best of them was Felipe Drugovich, who even came second in the Aston Martin.
